#EatDrinkFestival: The Changes (Part I)

Hi,

So we’ve made a couple of changes this year that weren’t mentioned in our announcement email. While stated in the vendor info doc, we feel they deserve dedicated comms. The first of these changes is the introduction of festival currency called Feast Points (FP).

Why have we done this?

Simple. It makes transactions seamless. Last year, we reached out to our title partner to provide POS devices and corporate accounts for all vendors. That didn’t really pan out like we planned and we ended up requesting for 60+ POS devices on our account. You know they say every disappointment is a blessing and such? Well, it gave us this idea for festival currency. We looked up payments at a couple of international festivals, reached out to a couple companies and found a solution.

Each vendor will get a special POS device to process transactions. The best part about this device is that it works both online AND offline. That way you never have to worry about “no service” and things of that nature. When there’s no internet access, the device stores transaction information locally and when it comes back on, it syncs with our central system.

In the past, some vendors have complained about staff theft so we feel this solution solves that. Oh, and there’ll be NO transaction charges either.

Guests will receive a wristbands to gain entrance into the venue. These wristbands are loaded with FP at the front desk and if they run out over the course of the day, there’ll be multiple top up stations around the premises.

Introducing a system like this means there’ll be a lot of user education needed and as such, the vendor meeting this year is VERY IMPORTANT. We don’t mind scheduling multiple at this point. We’ll be making a couple short instruction videos as well.

Regards,

The #EatDrinkFestival Team
