Fashion Tech and Start Up News & Events in NYC | 7.05 - 7.19 | Wearables for Mindful Lifestyle

Dear Friend,

You may have noticed that in my last few newsletters I wrote intros on topics of mindfulness and self-develpoment. Although these topics are near and dear to my heart and part of my everyday life, they were not as connected to the primary goal of this newsletter, which is to uncover curated news, start ups and valuable NYC events in the fashion and creative tech space. In order to keep the newsletter focused, I'm going to move my curation of mindful reminders on a separate section of my new website. Feel free to follow my Medium page to stay motivated with insightful notes on mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

From now on each newsletter will focus on one particular topic in fashion and creative tech field. So today I thought a seamless transition would be to touch upon wearables that help you live mindfully and stay present and focused. What is mindfulness anyway? It is really just about accepting the world as it is and not being attached to your personal idea of how the world should be, it's about making conscious decisions instead of automated, familiar actions and reactions. I use my Apple Watch for hourly positive pauses and deep breathes, new habits development tracking and meditation reminders. One of my personal favorites in the fashion wearables space is Ringly - beautiful rings and bracelets which offer guided meditation as a pre-set feature. Bellabeat’s Leaf has a stress prediction feature that calculates "stress sensitivity" and meditation reminders as an ultimate solution to overcome stressful situations. Other devices like Fitbit Charge 2Spire, Pip, Feel, Sona, WellBe, Prana, and Muse promise to improve your breathing, control your emotions and become happier. I'm a strong believer that living mindfully does not require any technology help, and that happiness and balance comes within. However if technology can help you bring more awareness, effectiveness and focus into your life, like Apple Watch does for me, I highly encourage you to use it! Are you using any devices to stay present? Please share with me your experience, if they are helpful or not so much!
