Gourmet Burgers at XO Bakery TODAY!

Hey!

Long time, no newsletter.

This should have gone out yesterday, but real life happened and it slipped through the cracks. Oh well, better late than never.

Gourmet Burgers at XO Bakery

Chef Benedict and Chef Alex (of XO Bakery) are popping up again. If you missed out on the first pop-up, you're getting another chance at it.

There is probably no where in Lagos that you get a bun that was baked less than 24 hours ago with your burger on this fine Saturday. That, in itself, is a reason to check out Ben and Alex’s burger collabo.

Just ignore their ugly ass poster.

It starts at 4pm and XO Bakery is in the same space as La Taverna.

Vegan in Lagos

If you've ever tried going vegan in Lagos and you've been struggling, you're in luck. There's a new vegan spot in Lekki called THRIVE. We checked it out on the blog this week.

Mushroom suya

Thrive is unabashedly about the vegan life and it doesn't pretend. There’s no entry level plate for the meat eaters or anything like that so keep that in mind.

Nachos Gone Wild at Hard Rock Cafe

A couple weeks ago, Hard Rock Cafe introduced a limited edition nacho-specific menu aka Nachos Gone Wild. Apparently, it’s an event that happens at Hard Rock Cafes across the world, and for Lagos, the limited run menu will feature a couple of Nigerian-inspired takes on Nachos like Suyalicious Nachos and Shawarma Nachos.

Each nacho on the menu is paired with a unique margarita from the Hard Rock bar. Think Mojitaritas, Bulldog Margaritas, Cranberry and Lychee Margaritas to go with your nachos.

The menu is only running till April 30th so you want to get to Hard Rock Cafe before it’s over if that's up your alley.

A New Chinese Restaurant for Your Mother

A new Chinese spot, Chai Tang, opened recently at the Twin Waters Entertainment Center, aka the Rufus and Bee building. It wasn't really our cup of tea when we reviewed it, but the Sunday crowd suggests that a lot of people might like it.

Nairobi Week

Earlier in the year, at the Eat.Drink.Lagos staff retreat (i.e. Folly & Nosa’s vacation), we agreed that 2018 would be the year we expand our horizons a bit. Specifically, we wanted to do more travel posts because food and travel are so intertwined. We’ve done travel posts in the past, but they've not been in the typical EDL style. For Nairobi Week, we changed that. Kenya is this year's hip travel destination and if you're about to buy that ticket for the summer, make sure you check out our Nairobi (+ Mombasa) coverage HERE.

That'll be all from us this week.

Have a lovely weekend!
