Creative & Fashion Tech Start Up Events in NYC | 2/28/17 - 3/27/17

Dear Friend,

Happy to introduce to you an upgraded version of the Creative Tech NYC newsletter! I heard your feedback and made it more personal - all the event descriptions are written by me, honestly, directly, without bs. Just like I would describe them to a friend - because you are my friends, dear readers. So grateful for you for your attention, comments and support! Thanks to our growing community I was invited to speak at FindSpark Fashion Conference on getting a job in fashion and technology as an international student. Oh trust me, I do have to share quiet a lot on this unsettling topic. Excited because it's going to be my first official panel talk in NYC! The only cooler type of a gig I had before was acting as a guest host at several Fashion is Your Business episodes. Without the guys involved in Open Source I wouldn't have been where I am now - sending you a big hug, you know who you are. Aaaaaand, to the letter. Please note: all the events below are free - so enjoy free beer and occasional cheese cubes + crackers most nights of the following two weeks ;)

Wednesday, Mar. 1

6:00 - 7:00pm The Future of Fashion: Changing the Distribution Channel

Just come to hear how innovative and forward thinking is Veronika Harbick's 3D knitting start up, Thursday Finest. She and founders of other industry-breaking direct to consumer fashion brands will share how they rethink design, manufacturing, and sustainability. Also just FYI, any event in Story store is precious and a must-go. Price: Free Location: STORY, 144 10th Ave. at 19th Street

6:00 - 8:30pm Future of Retail w/ Glossier, Casper & Facebook

These top notch guys will discuss the challenges and opportunities of marketing to the modern consumer who demands seamless experiences across channels, devices, and storefronts — both on and offline. Just looking at these companies' names make me feel excited. Bonus: a forced visit to Saks. Price: Free Location: Cafe SFA - Saks Fifth Ave. 611 5th Avenue 8th Floor

6:30pm App Idea Awards Launch Party + State of Early-Stage Investing In 2017

6:00 - 7:00pm Special Evening with Seth Godin

This guy is a genius of a kind. He's a blogger, teacher, TED speakerauthor and an entrepreneur of course. Seeing and hearing him live is one of those un-missable perks of living in NYC. See you there. Price: Free Location: STORY, 144 10th Ave. at 19th Street

6:00 - 8:15pm Societal Impact of Robotics

Reeealllyy smart robotics guys are going to share their hopes and fears in the nearest future of robotics and automatization. David Rose of of Singularity University, Jules Polonetsky of the Future of Privacy Forum, Nuzha Yakoob of Festo Robotics. I mean smart and highly informative talk. Personally I'm going to say hi to Seth (event above) quickly and then bike to this robotics discussion. Price: Free Location: WeWork Chelsea 115 W 18th St, New York,

Monday, Mar. 6th

7:30 - 8:30pm Techstars Alumni Founders Night

They named it "female founders" but I REFUSE to use this title here, it's ridiculous. The event sounds great tho - at least just to check out the Techstars space happens to be not as glamorous as I've imagined to myself before visiting it for the first time. The panelists will answer questions on the accelerator application process, pitching, negotiating, fundraising. Price: Free Location: Techstars NYC, 1407 Broadway, 24th Fl

Tuesday, Mar. 7th

6:30 - 9:00pm Fail Forward

Great series held in General Assembly focusing on lessons learned by start up founders. There you can learn practical product development and sales tactics to shape an idea into a viable product that people will actually pay for. Price: Free Location: GA NYC (Manhattan), HQ 902 Broadway, 4th Floor

5:45 - 9:00pm Design Driven

Personally my favorite ever long-running monthly meet up on design innovation. I almost never miss it. Always learn something super valuable and meet fantastic people. Did I mention the best beer and pizza mini-party in the end? See you there. Price: Free Location: BuzzFeed 111 East 18th Street

Wednesday, Mar. 8th

6:30 - 9:00pm International Women's Day Lightning Talks

I know we're all tired by now of all these "feminist movement 2.7" and "women's empowerment" trends but thought on a March 8th attending this kind of event actually makes all the sense. The panelists will speak about how to be a strong woman in a workplace. Kidding... But no, really. Being a woman in tech hurts sometimes. Price: Free Location: GA NYC (Manhattan), HQ 902 Broadway, 4th Floor

Thursday, Mar. 23rd

6:30 - 8:30pm Wearable Tech: Innovation & Wellness

Yeah, wearables is a bit of a worn down topic for us, fashion-techies - everyone is talking about it for 4 years now and not much has changed since. Although I love my Apple watch, I don't consider it a wearable. It's just what all watches should be at some point soon. Looks like this panel is going to shed light onto the near future of true wearables and their different forms and potential applications. Price: Free Location: GA NYC (Manhattan), HQ 902 Broadway, 4th Floor

Monday, Mar. 27th

6:30 - 8:30pm Next Wave in E-Commerce

The founders of Zola (the coolest wedding registry), Eloquii (Plus size-focused direct-to-consumer brand), and Rockets of Awesome (Subscription for kidswear) will discuss consumer behavior trends that inform their business strategy, and which new technologies they are excited to integrate into their customer experiences and platforms. I wouldn't miss this event. Price: Free Location: Rise, 43 West 23rd St.
